The 2018/19 Committee:
President: Rebecca Munday
Rebecca is a Trainee Legal Executive at Blake Morgan LLP, in the Construction team. She previously worked as a Legal Assistant in the Planning and Highways team at Southampton City Council.
Rebecca studied Law at Bournemouth University, and is currently studying for her Graduate Fast-Track Diploma with CILEx Law School.
Rebecca’s role as President of the SHJLD Committee involves organising, co-ordinating and finalising SHJLD events and communications
Vice-President: Pascale Devlin
Pascale is a Family Solicitor at Thrings LLP. Pascale studied Geography at King’s College London prior to undertaking the GDL and LPC at BPP London.
Pascale’s role as Vice-President of the SHJLD involves supporting the President and assisting with the running of the committee. Pascale also assists with organisation of the SHJLD Ball and other events throughout the year.
National JLD Charlotte Allery
Charlotte is a Solicitor at Coffin Mew LLP, in the Employment team. Charlotte studied Law at the University of Southampton and completed her LPC at the University of Law in Guildford. She previously worked as a Legal Adviser at the Recruitment and Employment Confederation, the professional body for the recruitment industry.
Charlotte’s role as National Junior Lawyers Division Representative involves representing the SHJLD and its members at National meetings at the Law Society. The National JLD represents junior lawyers across the country, providing members with an opportunity to network and connect with other junior professionals. The National JLD also discuss and lobby on issues that concern and impact upon junior lawyers.
Secretary: Emma Smith
Emma studied Music & Media Management at university before completing the GDL and LPC at BPP. She previously worked as a Legal Assistant at Birmingham City Council before relocating to Southampton to work as a Corporate Legal Secretary at Moore Blatch. Emma is currently a Trainee Solicitor at Womble Bond Dickinson LLP.
Emma is responsible for the general administration of the committee, including arranging membership with SHJLD.
Treasurer: David Cribb
David is a Trainee Solicitor at Blake Morgan LLP. David studied Law at the University of York and completed the LPC at the University of Law in Guildford. Prior to starting his training contract David worked as a Paralegal in Bond Dickinson’s Commercial Real Estate team and before that as a Paralegal in the Family team at CGM Solicitors.
David’s role as Treasurer of the SHJLD requires him to manage and review the SHJLD’s finances, agree budgets, and work with the other committee members to plan and organise events.
Events and Social Representative: James Looi
James studied Law at Exeter University before completing the LLM LPC at the University of Law in Guildford. James is currently a Trainee Solicitor at Sousa Law.
James’s joint role on the SHJLD as events representative is to organise events and most importantly make sure everyone enjoys them!
Events and Social Representative: Claire Hook
Claire completed her law degree at the University of Wales, Swansea before completing the BVC at the College of Law, Bloomsbury. She is currently a barrister No.18 Barristers Chambers.
Claire’s joint role on the SHJLD as events and social representative involves planning and organising various fun and informative events for SHJLD members, liaising with local venues and negotiating appropriate packages.
Bar Representative and Events and Social Representative:
Grace is a family barrister at Pallant Chambers. She completed her law degree at Durham University and then undertook the BPTC at Kaplan Law School, London. She is joint Events and Social Representative Rep with Claire and James and also joint Bar Representative with Claire.
She is looking forward to planning and organising lots of social events and is particularly keen on encouraging junior members of the Bar to join SHJLD alongside working collaboratively with chambers, firms and local businesses.
Sponsorship Representative: Iwan Thomas
Iwan studied Law at Oxford Brookes University before completing the LPC at BPP in Bristol. Iwan is currently a Trainee Solicitor at Coffin Mew LLP and has completed seats in Dispute Resolution & Insolvency and Residential Property. Iwan is currently in his third seat of his training contract in Corporate.
Iwan is looking forward to working on the committee and cooperating with local businesses.
Media and Communications Representative: Yasmin Curry
Yasmin studied Law at the University of Leicester before completing the LLM LPC at the University of Law in Guildford. She previously worked as a Commercial Real Estate paralegal at Lester Aldridge. Yasmin is currently a Trainee Solicitor at Blake Morgan LLP.
Yasmin’s role on the committee is to liaise with the SHJLD’s membership, help publicise the SHJLD events across social media and to maintain the website.
SHJLD Ball Representative: Natalie Williamson
I studied Law at the University of Southampton prior to completing the LPC at the University of Law, Guildford. I completed my Training Contract at Coffin Mew LLP and qualified in August 2018. I am now an Associate in the Real Estate Department at Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner.
Natalie’s role on the committee is to organise the annual South Hampshire Junior Lawyers Division Ball which unites young professionals.
The committee year runs from September – August each year.
